FAQ
Q: I'd like to write a letter to the editor. How do I do that?
A: Your views and opinions are welcome. Letters to the editor must include name, address, daytime phone number and are subject to editing for length and clarity. Email to letters@sliceok.com; fax to 405.604.9435; or mail to Slice Magazine, 729 W. Sheridan, Suite 101, Oklahoma City, OK 73102.
Q: Where are you located?
A: Our office is at 729 W. Sheridan, Suite 101, in Oklahoma City. That’s on the northeast corner of Sheridan and Shartel, and our front door is actually on Shartel – just look for the giant “Slice” sign. We’re open 8:30am-5pm M-F.
Q: When does the magazine come out?
A: The last week of the month prior to the issue date.
Q: Where can I get a copy?
A: You have several options: subscribe using this link to have a copy mailed to you every month. Or click here for a map of our rack locations around the metro area, but bear in mind that those racks are first-come, first-served and the magazines do tend to move quickly. You can also come by our office to pick up a copy.
Q: I need your advertising rates. How do I get them?
A: Call 405.842.2266 and ask to speak with a sales rep.
Q: Are you hiring staff/freelance writers/proofreaders/photographers/stylists/models/accountants/salespeople/interns/consultants? Because I am/someone I know is great at that!
A: If we’re actively seeking new personnel, we will post the available positions. But even if we don't have any listings posted, we know Oklahoma has a wealth of talented people – you can always email jobs@sliceok.com to ask about submitting a CV.
Q: I have a great idea for a story. How do I get an article in Slice?
A: Email editor@sliceok.com and ask our Editor-in-Chief about it. Some truly great features have appeared in Slice that came from ideas pitched to us; on the other hand, we have a multitude of our own irons in the fire, and our features are planned many months in advance. We receive a large number of pitches, so please factor that into your level of disappointment if you don’t hear from us. A few things to consider before you pitch:
- Is your story idea appropriate for Slice?
- Our production cycle begins two months prior to issue date, so stories should be submitted well in advance.
- In order to be considered, you must submit a detailed pitch.
- Stories submitted on spec will garner more attention from our editorial staff. We will either pass or accept the piece for a negotiated fee.
Q: There’s a great event coming up. How do I get Slice to cover it?
A: Depends on what kind of coverage you’re looking for. If you want readers to learn about it ahead of time, each issue has a section of things to do around the metro; email the details to events@sliceok.com to ask about adding your event to the listings (we’ll need at least two months’ notice). If you want readers to see who was there and what a great time they had after the fact, each issue also has a section of photos taken at area social events; email the details to photos@sliceok.com to ask about getting a photographer or submitting your own pictures (we’ll need at least two weeks’ notice). Or in either case, you can visit our home page, look underneath the calendar on the right, click on "Submit an Event" and follow the directions.
